How Do I Store My Music Library After Ripping ?

This is the third article in this series, as I previous said, I used iTunes to rip the CDs, then where should I store those music files? By default, iTunes will put the files in C:\my document\iTunes, I like the file structure used by iTunes, simple and easy to understand.

However I used to put it to a separate harddisk (eg. D:\iTunes). Why? Normally there won’t be any difference, but when the library size growing bigger and bigger it will outgrow the c: drive easily. In my case, my library size is 1.5Tb (about 3,800 albums) and keep growing, I put it in a 2Tb harddisk, I can easily switch it to a bigger size in the future and I can easily do the backup to an external drive by a one to one cloning without any effect to the OS in C: Read the rest of this entry »

Bringing New Music Into Your Home With Satellite Internet

As you get older it becomes harder and harder to find new music that you enjoy. Why is this? One reason is because it has become harder to hear new music. Why Did I Use ITunes for My Music Library Management Tools and How to Make the Best Use of It

The beauty of using iTunes as the music management system is its simple and easy use, plus the file structure is well thought of for easy retrieval. The filing structure is:-

Drive#:/itunes/artist/album/track

However, there are still some basic rules we must follow in making tag to the music file (Tagging is a way to facilitate future data-manipulation, eg. sorting, retrieving, categorization….). Below tagging rules must be 100% followed in order to maintain the consistency:-

* Artist name
o Either surname following by first name or first name following by surname is doesn’t matter and it is just a personal preference but once chosen then don’t change it again. You don’t want the computer to treat Phil Collins and Collins, Phil as two artists, right? Read the rest of this entry »
