The Need For Music Libraries
There are tons of libraries from all over the world that supply tracks for television and film production. The need for music libraries didn’t happen just now but back to the formative years of cinema. The tracks were used to physical film scores performed live for silent movies in early 1900′s.
In 1927, Great Britain, the very first recorded music library has begun. It is when the movies with sound, or called the “Talkies,” created a need for a pre-recorded background music. The innovators used a “sound-on-disc” or “sound-on-film” technique to record and directly on a 35-mm film. Soon after, during World War II, creators of music libraries started to record onto ΒΌ inch reel to reel tapes, which resulted for most of the compositions to show up in newsreels played between feature films and cinemas.
